Danger! Site threats explained at primary school

Two of McTaggart Construction’s contracts managers visited Dunard Primary School in Maryhill, Glasgow this month to explain the dangers of construction sites to the school children.

They had brought along some personal protective clothing and the children were able to try on the hard hats, boots and high-vis vests as well as goggles and gloves.

McTaggart Construction is building 128 housing units on a nearby site at Oban Drive in Glasgow for Queens Cross Housing Association and they had historical photographs of the site with them, which was previously a school.

After discussing with the children all the dangers to be found on a site and how to stay safe, they asked the children to enter a competition to design a Health & Safety Poster.  Winners were chosen from each class and they received a book token and their poster was enlarged and fixed to the perimeter fencing for the public to see.
